FAQ
What's a CD?

ARTICLE OVERVIEW
A simple way to grow your savings with a fixed interest rate.
A Certificate of Deposit (CD) is a way to set aside money for a specific amount of time while earning a guaranteed interest rate. You choose how long you’d like to save, from a few months to a few years or even longer, and your rate stays the same for the entire term, even if interest rates change elsewhere.
At Walden, our Local Impact CDs offer competitive rates in exchange for a longer savings commitment. We offer terms ranging from 6 months to 100 years, and those longer commitments allow us to provide more creative financing solutions to the local businesses, nonprofits, and organizations we support.
Because your money is meant to stay in the CD until the end of the term, withdrawing it early may result in an early withdrawal penalty. When your CD reaches the end of its term, you can withdraw your money, move it to another account, or renew it to keep growing your savings.
A CD is a great option if you know you won’t need the money right away and want a predictable way to grow your savings while supporting local impact.
