COMPENSATION:
REMOTE/HYBRID (MONTHLY ONSITE RESPONSIBILITIES IN CONCORD, NH)
We're the first new mutual bank nationwide in 50 years.
We are developing deeper connections between communities and the ecosystems that sustain them. We accept deposits from individuals, businesses, and non-profits who want to drive positive and lasting change with their dollars. We lend those funds to impact-oriented organizations, with special focus on farms and food businesses. The word “mutual” in our name means cooperative; we are governed by our depositors, funded by those with a bias towards the long-term, and engineered to endure the test of time. Building bridges is core to who we are, as we believe more interconnected and localized ecosystems support better community resilience and economic viability.
We are looking for an experienced leader in Information Technology to play a hands-on role in stewarding the bank’s technology infrastructure. The VP of Information Technology will report to the CTO and manage a small team responsible for ensuring the security and usability of critical systems. Along with management duties, this role requires ownership of the bank’s Information Security Policy and Vendor Management Policies, and heavy collaboration with audit, finance, and operations functions to manage vendor relationships and administer technology platforms.
Walden’s team is small (20-25 FTEs) but growing and includes a mix of hybrid and remote employees. Success in this role means ensuring the team has what it needs to thrive operating inside a tight budget while meeting regulatory requirements. Responsibilities span three primary areas: Information Security & Business Continuity, Vendor Management, and Technology Ownership. Strong candidates will have experience breaking down silos to build an integrated technology culture that emphasizes ownership, continual learning, and security across the entire staff.
What You'll Do:
- Develop a top-down understanding of all technology leveraged by the Bank and the types of data housed or passed between each. Supervise the integration of new tools or platforms into the bank’s tech stack.
- Design and execute an annual IT infrastructure plan and budget in partnership with the bank’s managed services provider, covering resources including the bank’s network and workstations, Microsoft 365 cloud environment, VOIP, hardware, and compliance of employee-owned devices.
- Act as the policy owner of the Vendor Management Policy. Ensure due diligence with current and potential vendors. Further develop Walden’s Product Owner Program, which empowers non-technical SMEs to manage vendor relationships.
- Act as the policy owner of the Information Security Policy. Work in partnership with Walden’s Information Security Officer to ensure compliance by developing and monitoring controls, supervising risk assessments and penetration testing, and maintaining the Bank’s disaster recovery and business continuity procedures as they relate to technology.
- Work in partnership with the Integration Engineer to develop automations/integrations between systems and improve reporting and data systems. Manage consultant relationships and negotiate contracts as required.
- Oversee daily IT operations in partnership with the bank’s Managed Services Provider, including helpdesk, network administration, endpoint management, and security.
- Keep up to date with our products, services, and regulatory requirements.
- Complete required compliance-related bank training (and other related activities).
What You'll Bring:
- 5-7 years of Vendor Management and IT leadership experience in a mid-sized company within a regulated industry
- Diverse exposure to and knowledge of the Information Security landscape
- Extensive experience with enterprise cloud platforms including Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and AWS
- Experience optimizing and maintaining Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VMWare Horizon)
Bonus Points If You Have...
- Prior experience as a software developer or software architect
- Experience using infrastructure as code tools (AWS CDK or Terraform) to manage resources in a virtual cloud

- Health insurance coverage with dental and vision
- Unlimited PTO
- Allocated time for volunteering
