Marketing Manager

POSTED:
COMPENSATION:
REMOTE/HYBRID (CONCORD, NH)
We're the first new mutual bank nationwide in 50 years.
We are developing deeper connections between communities and the ecosystems that sustain them. We accept deposits from individuals, businesses, and non-profits who want to drive positive and lasting change with their dollars. We lend those funds to impact-oriented organizations, with special focus on farms and food businesses. The word “mutual” in our name means cooperative; we are governed by our depositors, funded by those with a bias towards the long-term, and engineered to endure the test of time. Building bridges is core to who we are, as we believe more interconnected and localized ecosystems support better community resilience and economic viability.
We’re working to reimagine the status quo in banking by building a brand that’s rooted in our mission. Marketing at Walden is about amplifying that mission, and bringing it to life through the stories of the people and organizations we serve. This Marketing role will own the key parts of our marketing funnel – from acquisition to engagement to retention — and serve as a bridge between our mission, our products, and the communities we serve. Given our scale and mission orientation, you’ll be hands-on across a variety of marketing disciplines: paid digital strategy, email, content creation, social media, community and partnership-driven initiatives, and storytelling. We love specialists, but this role will require a generalist, comfortable wearing multiple hats. You’ll collaborate closely with our Product, Impact, Lending, and Compliance teams. Your friends describe you as super organized, a person with great taste, and a sustainability nerd.
This position is location-flexible, with options for hybrid and remote work (for example, 1-2 days per week in person in Concord, NH…or fully remote anywhere in the Northeast). During onboarding, you’ll be in-person more often and once a quarter our whole team gathers in Concord for 2–3 days of collaboration and connection.
What You'll Do:
- Reporting directly to the SVP – Partners & Impact, you’ll drive our day-to-day marketing efforts and serve as the internal hub for anything related to communications and brand.
- Manage paid digital marketing across Google, Meta, and emerging channels — including creative direction, targeting, landing pages, budgeting, and reporting.
- Lead additional acquisition efforts such as direct mail, partnerships, influencer collaborations, and seasonal/referral-driven campaigns.
- Maintain and evolve the Walden Mutual website, ensuring visual and content consistency as it matures.
- Execute email and CRM strategy, including newsletters, automated lifecycle flows, onboarding sequences, and re-engagement campaigns.
- Manage our social presence across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and future platforms, including posting, scheduling, and community engagement.
- Own content creation and publishing – including the Walden Blog, video, and photograph - and ensure all published materials meet brand, compliance, and mission standards.
- Manage key engagement programs — such as Partner Perks and the Summer Farm Dividend — ensuring mission alignment, relationship-building, and financial sustainability.
- Serve as internal ambassador for the brand, providing leadership on communications, brand standards, and visual identity.
- Keep up to date with our products, services, and regulatory requirements.
- Complete required compliance-related bank training (and other related activities).
What You'll Bring:
- 5 or more years of experience managing marketing programs in-house or as part of an agency.
- Proven track record — portfolio or examples — of content creation: writing, blogging, storytelling, community-facing content, or creative marketing pieces.
- Experience owning or contributing to a website (content, UX, updates), ideally using platforms like Webflow.
- Demonstrated experience managing paid marketing campaigns — ideally across Google, Meta, or similar digital ad platforms.
- Experience with or knowledge of email marketing platforms like Klaviyo or similar.
- Strong analytical mindset – with an ability to interpret campaign or website metrics and translate them into actionable insights.
- Comfort working in a small, mission-driven organization where flexibility, experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration are paramount.
Bonus Points If You Have...
- Experience vetting and managing freelancers/contractors – especially in areas not listed above (ex. Earned media/PR) or areas where you might have relatively less experience.
- Expertise in financial services, food and agriculture, or sustainability.

- Health insurance coverage with dental and vision
- Unlimited PTO
- Allocated time for volunteering
- “Quiet” Fridays
- Life and disability insurances
- Parental leave policy
- 11 paid holidays
